Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) from Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, I bring 15 years of progressive clinical nursing expertise. A significant portion of this experience was gained in the high-stakes, highly autonomous environment of the California Corrections Department. In this specialized role, I managed a primary care clinic and sensitive units (A-yard/ADseg), independently performing patient assessments, diagnosing complex chronic and mental health conditions; and initiating protocol-driven medication protocols, including Suboxone for Substance Use Disorders (SUD). My work ordering and reviewing labs and managing acute events like opioid overdose provided me with an enormous amount of advanced clinical expertise, built on judgment and deep compassion for vulnerable populations.
